DailyArtDesign INTERVIEW mit Claudio Limón – Künstler

DAD: Hi there, would you tell us a little about your artistic background?

CL: Hello, I’ve been painting since I was 10, my father is a sign writer and all my life I have been in contact with painting and drawing.
I studied graphic design at the University of Guadalajara.


DAD: When did you start your career as an artist?

CL: Since I was 10, I remember that the first painting I made was a still life in a small format.

DAD: Do you have a favorite artist or who and what are you inspired by at work?

CL: I have several favorite artists, like Frida Kahlo, Picasso, Matthew Barney, Nate Williams, David LaChapelle, Mariscal, etc.
The richness and colorful of the Mexican popular culture is a fundamental part of my inspiration.

 

DAD: Where do you get your ideas for your motifs from?

CL: From emotions, dreams, my mind, also from my environment, I love to find details where nobody else sees.

DAD: Which materials / media / software do you use for your creations?

CL: Paper, pencils, paintings, illustrator and photoshop.

DAD: How would you describe your style, how does your art spark interest in its beholder? 

CL: I describe it like „Mexican pop“, I think my art spark is notable for its colorful

 

DAD: What was your favorite project until now and why?

CL: One of my favorite projects is the illustration I did for Camel cigarettes, because it was my first international project.

DAD: What are you working on at the moment and what future projects do you have in your pipeline that we may look forward to?

CL: Now I’m painting murals, to cafes, bakeries, public spaces, etc.. And am working on interior design projects.
One of my next projects is very colorful illustrations of artists and celebrities.

 

DAD: What keeps you awake at your work with graphical software, with pencils and colors or behind the camera?

CL: Pencils and colors.

 

DAD: Would you as an experienced artist give some advices to apprentices or newcomers in your area of art?

CL: My advice is to practice, there’s nothing like being created every day and be in direct contact with our minds and our hearts. Expressing all that is in them and are very demanding in their work, who care about creating a unique style and do not stop for anything.
